Dinosaur Bone by Thorsten
Dinosaur Bone by Thorsten, also known as gem bone is formed through permineralization – the process of fossilization where mineral deposits form internal cast of organisms. Carried by water, these minerals fill the spaces with organic tissue, also referred to as agatized which makes it gem quality.
Gem bone comes in many beautiful colors and no two are the same. Gem bone has a very unique pattern and the different colors are caused by minerals like chromium, iron-oxide, chlorite and manganese. These minerals find their way into the bone cells during formation. Specimens can be dated back to about 150 million years ago prior to the extinction of the dinosaurs. These bones can be found in several places around the world such as the Colorado Plateau, the meeting point of New Mexico, Arizona, Utah and Colorado.
Thorsten has developed a process to inlay this beautiful gem bone into cobalt chrome rings. These are also extremely affordable compared to the traditional gold wedding band.
